Environmental Scientist/ Field Work Specialist

Are you passionate about the environment, wetlands, and preserving natural resources? Do you thrive on conducting fieldwork, analyzing data, and developing effective environmental strategies? Interested in GIS, or any experience with geo-location? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Environmental Scientist/Field Technician in Frederick, MD. This position is mostly remote with the ability to do site visits in the Frederick, MD area. Occasionally we might meet as a team, potentially once a month if everyone is available.

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct field surveys and assessments of wetlands, trees, and other natural resources in the Frederick area.

Assist in the development of natural resource management plans, including wetland preservation and restoration strategies.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental considerations into land-use planning and development projects.

Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations.

Stay updated with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to wetlands, tree conservation, and environmental protection.

Qualifications:

 Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or a related field; or internship or work experience in related field

Knowledge of tree identification, forest analysis, wetland delineation helpful.

Experience conducting field surveys, collecting environmental data, and using specialized tools and equipment.

Proficiency in GIS software and data analysis techniques/ or Autocad. We will help you learn/training available.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Familiarity with local and federal wetland regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Army Corps of Engineers permitting) is a plus.

A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field sites within the Frederick area.

Civil Engineer: 1-5 years experience, 5-10 years experience, with focused experience in Water and Sewer and/or Grading

While our team is growing, we especially need a team member with water and sewer and/or grading experience / specialty. Remote working is our typical work day, so you will not be expected to commute beyond your home desk. Competitive salaries offered.

Description:

Candidates should be comfortable working with some combination (or be willing to be trained) in site design; storm drain design and stormwater management; water and sewer; sediment and erosion control plans; grading; road construction plans; and should have a knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D. Candidates with a familiarity with regulations in Maryland are great but it is not necessary.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
1-5 years’ experience, and 5-10 years’ experience (senior) PE would be a plus.

CAD Designer/Drafter & Technician

Candidates should should have a working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D. Candidates with a familiarity with regulations in Maryland are great but it is not necessary.

Description:

Generate and modify layout plans, sheet sets, and drawings in AutoCAD. Work with civil engineers, environmental specialists, and planner teams to create final deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Two-year associates degree or 4 year in related field in Civil Engineering or Design. Experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Experience with 2D CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.

  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office programs.

  • Thorough and detail oriented work approach.

  • Basic knowledge of civil engineering discipline preferred.
