Star-SpANGLED PLAZA, MT. OLIVET

MT. OLIVET CEMETERY, FREDERICK, MARYLAND

A Plaza for Remembrance

Star-Spangled Plaza represents a significant enhancement to the entrance area of the historic Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, Maryland. This upcoming project celebrates the 250th anniversary of America, honors the nation's history, and creates a dignified space for remembrance and reflection. The plaza name refers to the cemetery's prominent status as the final resting place of Francis Scott Key, the author of the US national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner". His large monument, dedicated in 1898, stands near the cemetery's front entrance and is a central feature for visitors.

CBM developed comprehensive design concepts and detailed 3D renderings to visualize the plaza's transformation, ensuring the enhancement respects the cemetery's historic character while providing a meaningful destination for families and visitors. The project thoughtfully integrates patriotic memorial elements within Mount Olivet's landscape, one of Frederick's most significant historic sites.

Through careful planning and visualization, Star-Spangled Plaza will serve as a lasting tribute to American history and provide the community with an enhanced gathering space for commemoration and reflection for generations to come.
